Congratulations to our second trimester Reading Counts Award winners!

In response to student achievement, our Reading Counts program offers FIVE levels for third trimester awards.  The "Top Gold" Award has been added for those who earn 500 points by the last day of May.  The other four levels are the Gold Star Award=375 points, Silver Star Award=300 points, Bronze Star Award=225 points, and Red Star Award=150 points.

May/June News:

Realistic fiction is the genre being featured this month for students in grs. 4-8.
Kindergarten students are enjoying fractured fairy tales and exploring the non-fiction section of our library.
First graders are experiencing equestrian adventure stories, celebrating diversity, as well as learning about the Pure Sciences non-fiction section of our library.
Second graders learn about our country's past from stories about immigration and family traditions.  They are identifying Catholic values in stories as well.
Third and Fourth graders enter the world of fantasy in local author Kate DiCamillo's Newbery Award-winning book "The Tale of Despereaux".
Fifth graders are enjoying "Gossamer" by Lois Lowry, a tale of mysterious dreamgivers.
Sixth and Seventh graders are designing bookmarks for the different genres as well as reviewing skills for using an index.
Eighth graders met with Kindergarten pals, and are writing books for them which they will present as a gift during the last week of school.
